Björnkläder – a durable and iconic 120-year-old

May 07, 2025

Alligo’s own clothing brand Björnkläder was founded as early as 1905. Since then, the ambition has been to make durable and comfortable workwear that can be used every day.

A lot has happened since 1905, but the goal is still to ensure that the customer has the best workwear for a safe working day. Every year, new materials and better functionality are added to constantly stay at the forefront and continue to meet today’s and tomorrow’s needs for comfortable, durable, and stylish workwear

With care in every detail

To meet customers’ needs for comfortable workwear, nothing is left to chance. A jacket, for example, can contain up to 150 different parts, and everything is drawn and specified down to the smallest detail. Therefore, it can take several months before a jacket can start to be manufactured. It is a long time, but if it is to withstand a tough working life, nothing less will do.

Testing, washing, and even more tests

In Alligo’s premises in Gothenburg, the materials and accessories of the clothes are tested in various ways to ensure that they meet all high standards. A machine is used, for example, to simulate wear, washing properties, and check if the fabric sheds. The most important thing is that those who use the garments feel comfortable and safe. This is ensured through tests and development according to the latest standards and requirements from the market. Through certification according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, it is guaranteed that Alligo’s own clothes are free from harmful substances and meet strict chemical requirements.

Alligo’s responsibility for people, society, and the environment extends beyond its own operations. Suppliers are chosen with care and are expected to share the same values as Alligo regarding ethics and sustainability. Through Alligo’s membership in amfori BSCI, third-party audits are conducted to follow up on the high standards.
